The installation itself usually takes 2 to 3 working days for an average yard, spread across about a week so the concrete around the posts has time to set. Add time before that for the estimate, any approvals, the 811 notice and the schedule.
What happens, in order
- Free on-site estimate with measurements and a written quote.
- Permit, zoning check or HOA approval, where your address needs one.
- USA North 811 request, at least 2 working days before digging, not counting the day it is made.
- Old fence removed, posts set in concrete, concrete left to set.
- Rails and boards or panels go on, gates are hung, and we clean up and walk the fence with you.
What slows a fence job down in Modesto?
- Hardpan or cobble that makes every post hole slow.
- Winter rain and tule fog: holes fill with water and concrete and stain take longer to cure.
- Extreme summer heat, when crews start early and stop early.
- HOA review, or a permit for a tall fence, a pool barrier or a powered gate.
- Custom gates, special-order vinyl colors and fabricated metal.
- Waiting for a neighbor to answer a shared-fence notice.
We are getting a dog in three weeks and have no fence. What is fastest?
Call now, because the rule check and the 811 notice use up some of that time. Chain link and standard board fences are built from materials that are normally in stock, so they go up soonest. If the full yard will not be done in time, we can close off one area first so the dog has a secure place from day one.
We are putting in a pool. Fence before or after?
Plan them together and build the fence last. The excavator and concrete trucks need a way in, so the side of the yard they use stays open until the shell is done. The barrier then has to be complete and inspected before the pool is signed off. Talk to us while the pool is being designed so gate positions and equipment access are settled early.
My association says fix the fallen panels by Monday and my contractor keeps delaying. Can a handyman patch it?
Yes. A handyman patch on your own fence is your call and will usually satisfy the deadline. Read your contract first and tell the contractor in writing what you are doing. Remember that in California an unlicensed person may only take a job under $1,000 that needs no permit and uses no hired help.
We can only give a real number after seeing the fence line. The estimate is free. Call (209) 231-7679 or text us a photo of the yard.
